9/10/19 Agenda Blog-corrections RJ Check readers workshop HW: RJ 4.2 T.O.   p. 150-166 (2 chapters: 10/11)      The day began with just coming into class sitting down, taking out our journals and pencils. We discussed about chapter 7 and how in this chapter Ponyboy and his brothers are getting ready for the rumble which was at 7 pm. They as in Darry, Steve, Sodapop, and Two-bit started to jump around and start shouting out in the street mocking the Socs. We also talk about the rumble, and we all get sad because Johnny sadly passes away :(. After that, we started to annotate the important details like irony and how the exact opposite happens, for ex. Dally having a bad reputation with the cops and later he gets escorted to the hospital by the cop. Ms. Nakada started a conversation about college and how we need to keep our grades up and how it will help us get into other colleges. Once we finished annotating, Ms. Nakada let us read The Outsiders...

Agenda Book fair Blog corrections Rj reader's workshop HW: stay cool this weekend :)  Today we went to the book fair to look at what they have. We went over T.O. chapter 8. We read our summaries to our table partners. We also took notes in our books about how Johnny wanted to kill himself. Dally wanted Two-bit's switch blade that was 10 inches long. He also wanted the greasers to win in the rumble against the Soc's for Johnny. Ponyboy is sick and his state of mind is in question. Cherry didn't want to see Johnny because he killed Bob. Ponyboy went off on her. Ponyboy asked, "can you see the sunset good from the West Side?" and Cherry said "yeah." Then, Ponyboy said, "You can see it good from the East Side, too." It was a early day so that's all we were able to do for today.

Agenda Blog corrections RJ check Elements of Plot Reader's workshop 9/5/19  T.O.  Pages 100-118 Ponyboy, Soda, and Darry were at the hospital, waiting to hear about Johnny and Dally. Dally will be alright and will get out of the hospital soon. Johnny on the other hand was hurt badly on his back with severe burns. He might not make it. Pony, Soda and Darry went home and slept. The next day, Pony woke up early and was going to make breakfest when Two-Bit and Steve arrived. It was then revealed that Sandy left to Florida and couldn't marry Soda because of her parents. Their reason didn't make sense at all. Soda is pretty much 17 but no that's too young. Anyway, turns out Johnny was charged with manslaughter, Sandy was pregnant with Soda's kid, and Pony along with his brothers might go in a boy's home. A lot of drama I know. Two-Bit and Ponyboy went to a convinence store. Ponyboy bumped into Randy Anderson, Bob's friend. They started talking ...

Agenda  - Blog: Corrections - RJ check - English Scores - Reader's Workshop HW RJ 3.2 T.O.   (pg. 100-118) Today, we reviewed Chapter 6 of T.O.  Johnny decided to turn himself in to the police. As they were heading back to the church, they saw that it was on fire (the big plot twist). There was a picnic taking place at the Church. Inside the church, there was a group of kids, about eight year olds, stuck inside. Pony and Johnny went through the window to save them. They got all the kids out of the church before it collapsed. Johnny was helping Pony get out, but once Pony made it out safely the church fell on top of Johnny. They were all heading to the Hospital. When Pony got out of the Hospital, he saw Darry and Sodapop. Darry was crying. He hasn't cried in years, even during his parents' funeral. Pony finally noticed that Darry actually cared for him. Later, we were doing the English scores. This also helps for "Back to School Night," tomorrow. - C...

T.O.  Chapter 5: Ponyboy and Johnny stay at a church on top of Jay Mountain. They cut their hair as a disguise. While they stay at the church Ponyboy recites a poem he remembered from Johnny. "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost, "Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief. So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay." They stay at the church for five days until Dally comes to pick them up. Dally takes Ponyboy and Johnny to get a proper meal before they head back. While they eat it turns out that Cherry was a spy for the Greasers. In class we studied the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay," we find out the meaning of the poem. We also went over some of...
