Our poem today is: "A Song In The Front Yard" by Gwendolyn Brooks.  Read through the poem 2-3 times (preferably out loud).  What feeling/tone do you get from the poem?  What is it about?  What poetic elements do you notice happening in this poem?  Annotate and make sense of this poem. Now for our prompts:   Inspired by Gwendolyn Brooks' poem, write about the things you wish you could do that you a forbidden to do. Winter Tangerine  prompt:  "Write about the last time you belly-laughed." And finally, the  Writer's Digest  prompt:  "For today’s prompt, take the phrase “Follow (blank),” replace the blank with a new word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. Possible titles include: “Follow the Leader,” “Follow Me on Twitter,” “Follow Your Heart,” and/or “Follow the Light.” So many things to follow or not.
