HW: Write a letter to yourself that I will mail to you in four years. Write a letter to me. Write a letter to a future eighth grader. Bring these with you when you come to turn in your textbooks. 

OK, folks. This is it. Our last Thursday class.

Awards Night is tonight at 6:00!
Last English Class: Monday 9:00 and 10:15
Materials Return: Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5 from 8 - noon. 
Virtual Graduation: Wednesday, June 10 at 1:30 

OK, your last assignments for me you will bring and turn in June 4/5. 

The letter to yourself in a self-addressed envelope. 
The letters to me and to a future eighth graders do not need to be in envelopes.

Agenda Blog Corrections Student Led Conferencing Forms HW  RJ 9.3 Read for 20-30 min. Today, we started by writing the agenda for like five minutes. Then, we started talking about the coronavirus and the kids going to DC. After, we were done talking about the virus we got a sheet about the student led conferencing. It was a paper to fill out. Angel kept bugging me to put him in the blog so here is your little taste of fame, Angel. Now let's get back to it. We went to AR to check our progress on the iPads. After everyone was done we completed our SLC forms. Then, we started either doing silent reading or something else I didn't hear. Ms. Nakada started collecting the test prep paper we got from the sub. It's going to be lunch in a bit so bye.

Agenda: independent study Essay editing strategies Read 20-30 minutes Hey all. Happy Tuesday! Today's blog will be a little shorter because it's a short Tuesday. 🤣 But really, it will be shorter: shorter blog and shorter Zoom call. 1:00 - 1:30 because teachers have a meeting at 1:30 so... make sure you have questions ready for tomorrow.  Ok, so today you're editing your essays. Yesterday you revised and looked to strengthen the meaning of your writing. You are making sure all of your evidence supports your thesis.  Today you are checking: your academic vocabulary (do you vary your word choices) writer’s sentence formations vary in structure (do your sentences start differently and vary in  length or do you sound like a robot.) writer uses correct capitalization and punctuation (check for caps for all names and titles!) writer   uses consistent, formal language POV, verb tense, and active voice (present tense, third person and take out all &qu
