"You Will Remember" by Pablo Neruda
Prompts for NaPoWriMo

HW: RJ 13.4 on a poem. Get 13.1-13.4 signed and turn in on Schoology.
Please submit the draft of 10-15 poems you've written by Friday.

* if you haven't turned work in (RJs, Book Projects, Essays, Poetry Drafts) the school will be calling home to see why. If you don't know how to turn things in on Schoology, please ask someone for help!

Our Zoom class code has changed. Check Schoology or the Remind app for the link. I'm not going to post these publicly anymore. Obviously, please don't share our Zoom codes with others.

For check-in today, what is your favorite poem you've read so far this month?

Ok, our poem today is by Pablo Neruda.

Read through the poem 3-4 times (preferably out loud).
What feeling/tone do you get from the poem?
What is it about?
What poetic elements do you notice happening in this poem?
Annotate and make sense of this poem.

Our prompts for today:

Choose 3-5 words from Neruda's poem like: sweet, stone, bird, and clay. Write your poem and make sure you use these words.

"Negotiate with your past. Who do you forget? Who do you forgive?"

From Writer's Digest: "For today’s prompt, write a dream poem. The poem can be a remembered dream. Or it could be a dream about the future (like getting out and about without worry again). Of course, some dreams are good, but there are nightmares too. So let’s get dreamy with our poems today. After all, Blondie said it best: “Dreaming is free.”

Remember: These prompts are just springboards; you have the freedom to jump in any direction you want. In other words, it’s more important to write a new poem than to stick to the prompt."

Make sure your turn you in your reading journals and poem drafts tomorrow.
